REFLEXOLOGY

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a science which deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body. When imbalance (tension, stress, discomfort, illness, pain, etc.) occurs in the body, blockage accumulates around the nerve endings found in the reflex areas of the feet & hands that correspond to the same part of the body. Reflexology works to break down these deposits, dispersing the pain, and restoring the energy flow to a state of balance. Bioaccumulation, the build up of small amounts of toxic substances, occurs when toxic substances are not excreted fast enough. The liver, kidneys, lungs, skin and colon all function to eliminate toxins and restore the body’s natural balance.

What Does it Feel Like?

Treatment is given with the hands using pressure techniques; the fingers applying specific pressure to areas that are sometimes very small points. Reflexology is not just a foot massage – the technique pinpoints specific areas of the feet, which relate to parts of the body. People receiving reflexology often feel tenderness as certain points are worked, and they usually experience a release of tension.
